On Thursday morning the veteran Bollywood actor, politician and former union minister, Vinod Khanna, passed away in Mumbai. He was 70 and was suffering from gallbladder cancer. His cremation ceremony took place at a crematorium in Worli, Mumbai, in the evening which was attended by a number of his Bollywood friends including Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Ranjit, Subhash Ghai and many new actors of the industry.
Khanna was admitted into Sir HN Reliance Foundation hospital over a month ago for cancer but his family then remained tight-lipped about his condition. In a brief statement, a hospital spokesperson said Khanna breathed his last at 11.20 am due to advanced bladder carcinoma. Khanna is survived by his former wife Geetanjali, their sons Akshaye and Rahul, and his present wife Kavita, son Sakshi and daughter Shraddha.
Soon after, Bollywood took to the social media to express their grief.
